Health Service Operations

The Health Services Operations Unit has primary responsibility for:

The Health Services Operations Unit has responsibility for monitoring the implementation of the Victorian Government policy and funding guidelines and other such policy drivers associated with service provision, service and capital planning, governance and safety in the Victorian public health system.

Health Service & Workforce Development

This team works on the development and delivery of programs to support the allied health workforce, the trauma and emergency workforce and the nursing workforce. It also leads staffing and systems improvement in relation to infection control, wound management and occupational health and safety in health services.

Primary Health

The Primary Health team is responsible for managing the Departments relationship with our key service partners in the areas of primary health, mental health and alcohol and drugs, palliative care, and aged care support programs, such as Personal Alert Victoria and the Home and Community Care program.

This team is also responsible for working with Primary Care Partnerships as well as the the regulation and monitoring of Supported Residential services within the region.

Public Health

The Public Health team works with the Departments service partners and other stakeholders on integrated approaches to promote protect and improve population health. In particular the team focuses on:

Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS)

The Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) subsidises the travel and accommodation costs incurred by rural Victorians and if appropriate, their escorts, who have no option but to travel a long distance to receive approved medical specialist services. This single state-wide VPTAS office is administered by the Grampians Region from its office in Ballarat.
